Life Update: We Moved!

Hello Loves! We’re sharing some exciting news today, which if you follow us on @Instagram you already know, WE MOVED! It was easier than we expected thanks to this one big reason!

We’re still in our beloved Chicago but now, we’re sporting new digs with more space and natural light out of this world!

Moving during this time was a very interesting experience to say the least. When we looked at this place in February, it was business as usual. I envisioned us taking pictures of us signing our documents, having our immediate family over for champs, and welcoming our closest friends over for a sneak peek. But, with everything going on, we opted to sign a Power of Attorney to sign our documents and family and friends got a virtual tour.

During the actual moving process, one thing that made everything a lot easier was a company called Redi-Box. A moving box rental company that delivers these clean, durable, stackable and reusable boxes to people in Chicago and the Chicagoland area.

One of my biggest peeves about moving is the amount of trash that comes from it. The cardboard boxes, the paper, the peanuts, the plastic. It creates a huge mess and of course isn’t environmentally friendly. Plus, once when I was moving in college, I had about 30 shoes in a cardboard box and then the BOX BROKE. Cue all of my shoes tumbling down the stairs. Surprised my parents didn’t leave me in Champaign.

With Redi-Box my items stayed protected, clean and the movers said they were easy to work with since they were stackable and had handles. It’s a win all around!

About a week before we moved, the boxes were delivered, carried up, and I got started putting our things away. I could get a jump-start on packing making the actual day less stressful. We rented 30 boxes for our one bedroom + den and actually ended up needing a few more. Redi-box makes it easy enough so you can get more delivered, if need be, but we opted to do a few extra trips, unpack, and then reuse those same boxes. We probably needed 45 or so which is a package up from the one we were gifted. Estimation has never been my strong suit.

The true bonus to using Redi-Box was IT MADE ME UNPACK. Since the boxes are rented for 2 weeks, it gives you enough time to pack, move, and then unpack. It takes me about 6 weeks to empty my suitcase from vacation so I know I would have had cardboard boxes still filled in 2021. But, since Redi-Box has to send them to the next person, it made me organize my things and get our stuff put away much sooner, leaving me with a peaceful and organized home.

Tony and I are slowly but surely getting settled and putting our personal touch on the place. We can’t wait to share it with you all as we go down this journey of homeowners!
