Hello lovelies!
Today’s post is going to feature a piece you all have seen plenty of on our blog. I know Sydney has made all of you out there aware of the culotte trend, seeing as though she loves it so much! I love the style on her, but I was a bit skeptical of this trend for myself. After a few months of seeing her go ham on culottes, I finally decided to dip my toe in the pond.
Yes y’all, I tried culottes and I actually enjoy them. I can admit that I am sometimes late on trends purposely. Many times, I want to see if the trend will last a while or go as quickly as it came. Since it seems culottes will be around for a while I felt comfortable buying a pair. If you’re like me and you like to ride the wave before you go for a trend, I recommend buying an inexpensive piece first. Nothing is worse than spending a ton of cash on something that doesn’t work for you. Spending less makes you slightly less attached if the piece doesn’t look good on your or if it quickly goes out of style.
The culottes I’m wearing are from BooHoo and they came as part of a set that was about $30 all together. I felt very safe going with black because I knew as a first timer, I wanted a pair of culottes that were easy to style. For this look I paired them with a yellow ruffle top from H & M I got for about $10. The ruffle trend is pretty big now as well. Whether it’s on tops, skirts or dresses you can find ruffles on just about everything. I live for a nice ruffle top because it’s an easy way to add embellishment to your look.
If you have a small chest like I do, wearing a ruffle top adds a nice dimension to your top half. Ruffles add volume so you look more shapely and not straight up and down. I’ve also been loving this little crystal necklace I also got from H & M. The store was having a major sale and I scored both my ruffle top and this necklace than only cost me $3.
Another tip I have for buying trendy pieces is trying them on first. You may think you love a trend based on seeing other people wear it but you may hate how it looks on you. Style and comfort are important factors in adding t your wardrobe.
I broke out my faux suede Shoedazzle sandals for this look. I love that they can go with almost everything and the chunky heel is comfortable with an appropriate height for work. If you want or need to cover your arms at work you can of course add a blazer or sweater.
I hope you all enjoyed this look!
Until next time,
