Styling the Puff Sleeve Trend for Work
If you’re anything like me, you teeter the line of fashion and function constantly. I live for a large sleeve with tassels but…can I wear it to work?
As a fashion blogger, it’s important that I try to keep up with the trends. New styles come out so frequently that it can be easy to get overwhelmed with all the must have lists and trends that are supposed to be in your closet. Plus, half the time, none of the trends I can actually pull off in the office.
One trend that I can get on board with this year is the puff sleeve.
While some sleeve skew more toward drama, there are some really great options that are subtle and of course FUNCTIONAL.
I fell in love with this rich emerald green option from Ann Taylor the moment I saw it! The subtle structure of the puff sleeve at the shoulder is just the right height to add interest but not overwhelm you when typing. Because ya girl has to work right?
If you’re wanting to look really polished, tie the strings in a soft bow right at the neck. It’s a simple feminine detail that adds a little bit of interest. If you’re going for a more relaxed vibe, say rocking this look with a pair of jeans, let them hang or opt for a looser knot.
Versatility is something that we harp on here because while having a lot of clothes make be great, it’s better to invest in some pieces that you really love and can wear with more than one option. In this case, I’m opting for a white after Labor Day style and went with a cream pant that’s straight legged and tailored. The contrast of the white and emerald green was too good to pass up!
To finish off a look, you can rarely go wrong with a leopard print heel. As I’ve said before, my office is very casual so I know I can get away with mixing prints and fabrics. If you’re on the more conservative side, go for a simple black pump with a pointed toe. Sleek and simple.
Don’t forget your accessories! I’m still smitten with this bone colored Dooney and Bourke Satchel because it’s perfect for after work events. Large enough to hold a notebook, but not a commuter tote.
Currently Ann Taylor is having a 40% off Friends and Family sale and this blouse is selling fast! At our event last night at the AT on Michigan Avenue, I spotted in in a lot of bags. How would you style this blouse?
