Yes, you can still wear white after Labor Day
Every now and then we get asked the question, Can you wear white after Labor Day? Previously a faux paux (scoff), the rule came about apparently to separate old money from new money. These days, money is money and I do what I want.
White after Labor Day is most definitely allowed and I’ve been rocking it like it’s going out of style.
You need a closet staple like this in especially if it can be worn year round. Choose one with medium weight so that you won’t sweat in Summer and it can handle the brisk Fall morning air.
How to Wear White After Labor Day
Today, I’m sporting a no-brainer combo featuring a rich camel midi-skirt paired with a white and black grid blouse and the star of the show, this double breasted ivory blazer from TopShop/Nordstrom. If your office skews to the professional side, opt for a black trouser and black blouse to make the blazer pop. For the casual office, you can’t go wrong with a good pair of jeans and a stylish boot, you know for when that snow starts falling. Also, try rocking it with a pair of taller boots and a skirt during the winter.
The Details
I’ve opted to pair the blazer with a asymmetrical camel colored skirt from Asos and a simple patterned blouse. I’m not a great pattern mixer but I do know that I needed a pattern to break up this classic solid color combo. If you ever feel like your outfit is a little lackluster, add in a pattern. Whether that’s a printed blouse, a fun heel, or even a larger piece like a pant or blazer, it’s the perfect final touch.
