3 Outfit Formulas For Easy Styling
Do you struggle with putting pieces together to make the perfect outfit? Try using outfit formulas. They’re simple combinations that create the perfect outfit every time.

POV: You hate getting dressed for work because finding an outfit is the ultimate struggle. I have the perfect solution—outfit formulas! An outfit formula is the fashion equivalent of 2+2. It’s easy to pull together with little effort and the final product makes you look like a million bucks. Here are a few of my go-tos when I’m overthinking what to wear.
Outfit Formula 1: Jeans + Blazer
My favorite outfit formula has to be jeans and a blazer. The combination can by styled many different ways and dressed up or down. You can wear these pieces to your casual office with sneakers or flats for a fun yet polished outfit, or pair it with pumps for a more elevated look. This outfit is the ultimate cool girl look and gives an effortlessly chic vibe. I love that you can also turn this outfit formula up by wearing a bold blazer with chunky jewelry, or tone it down with neutral tones. No matter how you style it, this is an outfit formula that you can have fun with, and your outfit will always be a 10/10.
Outfit formula 2: Monochromatic
A monochromatic look screams “I have my sh*t together”. It’s something about wearing the same color head to toe that makes a statement and turns heads. The key to a good monochromatic outfit is not trying to match your colors exactly but keeping them in the same color family. The variation in shades, along with textures, adds more dimension to your look. You can also use the rule of thirds to really pull your look together and add a layer of chic outerwear like a coat or blazer.
Outfit formula 3: Blazer + Skirt
This outfit formula is the little sister to the blazer + jeans combo. When you want to swap your pants for a skirt, adding a blazer is the cherry on top for a work outfit. A flowy slip skirt and a structured blazer create the perfect juxtaposition of femininity and structure. This is another pairing that you could dress down with flats or sneakers if you’re going for a more relaxed look. A blazer and skirt make the perfect transitional outfit for those seasons when it’s cool during your morning commute and warm when you get off work, or vice versa.
Remember, getting dressed for work doesn’t have to be hard. You can use these three outfit formulas to create a plethora of looks. It’s all about knowing your wardrobe and using what you have to mix and match. Take the guesswork out of getting dressed and go for an outfit that’s simple, stylish, and confidence-boosting.
