Day to Night-From Office to Night Life in an Instant!
Day to night looks are essential for young professionals with a budding social life. You don’t want to walk into an evening event looking like you’ve had a hard day at the office. Here’s how to avoid a fashion faux pas with an instant day to night look.
Hello Lovelies!
Here we are on another beautiful Monday! Does anyone else like Mondays as much as I do? New week, new opportunities! Anyway, if you’ve got the Monday blues and are looking forward to the next after 5 event I’ve got a look for you! How many times have you had to change clothes from work to a social event? Better yet, how many times have you forgotten said change of clothes and felt out of place in stuffy work clothes? I’m going to give you a cheat sheet for the perfect day to night look so fear no more!
Blazer: H & M (similar) | Bodysuit: AKIRA (similar here & here) | Pants: H & M (similar)
For daytime: A smart casual “suit”. You all have seen my profess my love for these paper bag waist pants recently. They’re probably the most comfortable work pants I own, no lie. I also like the slight 80’s vibe they’re giving me with this look. I paired them with my always clutch black blazer and this burgundy ruffled blouse from AKIRA. I tend to lean toward blazers as a top layer for work looks because 1. I just love a good blazer and 2. They’re nicely structured so you look well put together and it can double as outerwear when the weather is nice.
The daytime portion of this looks is perfectly camouflaged as stylish office wear. Your coworkers won’t suspect that you’ll be dashing out as soon as you can to get to the function lol! The key to pulling off a day to night look is to maintain the air of professionalism. The cut of my top doesn’t scream nightwear with a low neckline or bold sequins. It’s demure enough to pair well with my pants and blazer.
For nighttime: Simply remove your blazer and *BOOM* you’ve got a flirty and fun night look. Off the shoulder and ruffle tops are on trend right now so your fellow socialites will never suspect you’ve spent the day buried in a sea of work. My top is a bodysuit I got from AKIRA for about $10. I caught one of their BOGO sales, which are pretty great for stocking your closet. They typically have BOGO on items that have already been marked down, which is an even better value in my opinion.
I’ve been into bodysuits in recent years because they’re so easy to style! You could pair this same top with a pencil skirt, culottes or jeans and it would still give you a flawless look. Bodysuits also lay better than traditional blouses and tops. Since they’re fitted you don’t have to worry about wrinkles or weird bulges from trying to tuck your shirt in.
This off the shoulder ruffled top is a trend you can go for without second guessing yourself. This style is in trend almost every year with little variation, so even if you spend more than $10 you’ll get a good ROI with pieces like this. This look does have a little volume to it but it works since my pants taper toward the bottom so I don’t look too heavy. You can literally go day to night with this look in 2 seconds! How awesome is that?!
As previously stated, you can pull off different variations of this look with a skirt or different style of pant. I encourage you to go through your wardrobe and see what tops you have that can go day to night with simple layering. I promise you’ll be surprised by what you find. Just remember, we don’t want to cross the line into a look that’s not work appropriate. I advise against tops that are low cut, sheer, have cut outs or an excessive amount of sequins. Keep it simple and you’ll come out with a killer look!
I hope you all enjoyed this look & got some inspo for your next day to night look. Comment below and let me know if you’ve got a go to look that doubles for work and play!
Until next time,
