Easy Pattern Mixing – Checks and Florals
Back from vacation and back in the office wearing this cute pattern mixing combo! See the cutest combo to start pairing patterns together!
Hello Loves! This past weekend, I returned from my Spring vacation (which is slowly becoming a tradition) Sunday afternoon and can’t wait to share the details with you all soon! I’m officially back to work, with no time wasted, and when I woke up this morning, I was feeling pretty good especially since I got roughly 12 hours of sleep last night due to jet lag so I woke up bright and early and picked out this cute outfit to wear to the office today!
This little combo is a cute mix of old and new pieces in my closet! The skirt is actually a dress that I got year and year ago. When the dress option wasn’t quite working for me, I opted to fold the top half down thus wearing it as a skirt. That’s definitely one of my go-to tricks if I’m bored with one of my dresses and want to switch it up a bit.
And the dress has pockets! Whenever I find a dress or skirt with pockets, it’s officially a must buy. It’s always so useful and functional that it’s a clothing feature I can’t pass up. How many times have you been juggling your phone, laptop, notebook, and coffee mug when it would be ten times easier to toss smaller items in your pocket?
One simple way to get into pattern mixing is the stick with the same color scheme! The easiest way is to get started is to keep “like” pieces together and keep things simple with, in this case, pairing black and white together. I get so many compliments on this outfit and the fun patterns are the reason!
My top is a deal from The Limited and in this fun simple check pattern. My favorite detail I have to say is the collar! It actually makes the skirt and top combo look like a dress! Since it’s the cooler months, I’m wearing my favorite fleece tights and simple black leather flats.
