Grey Duster Vest and a Pleated Skirt
Sometimes the simplest pieces can make a great outfit! These items are sure to be in your closet right now to re-create this look!
Hello Loves! I love being able to use some of my most simple pieces to make an outfit that’s on trend. Sometimes, I think we get caught up in mix of purchasing new clothes every year (or month!) because we get bored of our usual pieces and want to “spice things up”. A few weeks ago, before the end of the year, I went through my closet and took out clothes that I didn’t care for any more and I’m sad to say that a few of those items were brand. spanking. new. I was so disappointed in myself that some of these items I bought impulsively and while some were a bad fit when I bought them, some just we’re my style. I was a little down in the dumps about spending money on clothes that would never be worn, but it gave me the opportunity to revisit some pieces that I loved and look for new ways to wear them.
I’m a sucker for this grey duster vest of mine and it hadn’t gotten worn too recently, so when I came across it, I knew I could bring together an outfit with some simple pieces. You’d be surprised at what you can piece together when you’re in a creative mood!
P.S. This was shot right before T proposed! You can read all about that here.
The pieces I chose were all staple items that every woman should have in their closet. A simple color scheme of black, white, and grey is easy enough and perfect for winter time. I mean who doesn’t have a white turtleneck and a black skirt in their wardrobe? It’s the basis of a capsule wardrobe and having foundation pieces like this allow you mix and match and create new looks by adding and taking away layers.
I paired the vest with flare skirt, black tights (with fleece on the inside!) and my thigh high boots that are getting the most wear this season with their little leopard detail to add some interest. The boots basically act as a pair of pants and as you can see from the photo and since the snow isn’t letting up here, it’s well needed. (It’s snowing as I’m writing this btw)
I finished the look off with a thick almost corset style belt from Guess which I stumbled upon not too long ago. I normally don’t wear belts but knew I needed something in my closet to keep my skirt up so this style was different but worked perfectly!
