Accessories for work

Accessorize for impact: 5 accessories that elevate your work look

We love some good accessories. They’re the finishing touch that pulls your look together. Here are five accessories we recommend for your everyday workwear looks.

Work bags

Work bags are at the top of the list because they’re the most-worn accessory. Bags that have both style and function are a must in our book, and we see work bags as a reasonable area to splurge. You can go for a neutral, universal bag that pairs well with your entire wardrobe, or you can start a collection of bags for variety.

A bag I love is the Senreve Maestra bag. Sydney introduced me to this bag a few years ago, and I’m forever grateful! It’s beautiful, functional, and versatile. Not to mention, extremely sturdy and well-made. One of our favorite features is the strap that you can adjust to turn your shoulder bag into a backpack. This bag will fit all your essentials (laptop included) and garner lots of compliments—a win/win in our book!

Watches

A good timepiece is one of those classic accessories. Although we’re in the age of digital watches, an elegant analog watch just hits different. I’m not really into bracelets because I type a lot for work and they’re a little too noisy for me. A watch is my accessory of choice because it’s more fitted. If you like both, you can create a stunning stack with them.

Fossil makes great watches. The quality is made to last, and the price range is pretty affordable. Fossil also makes a variety of styles and sizes to suit your needs. I’m a rose gold girl, and I love my rose gold Fossil watch.

Belts

Belts are having a moment right now, and I’m here for it! Belts are the epitome of stylish yet functional accessories. Adding a belt to your outfit instantly pulls it together, and there are plenty to choose from. Add a belt to your trousers or jeans and witness the instant upgrade. I love belting my blazers, and even plain dresses, at the waist to give the illusion of a cinched waistline.

Fun belts are easy to come by. Check stores like TJMaxx, Marshall’s, or Ross for affordable belts. I also like website like ASOS for more unique styles.

Necklaces

Necklaces are another classic and timeless accessory. They also shift with the times. Back in the late 2000’s and 2010s, necklaces were bright, bold, and chunky. Now, that we’ve entered the “clean girl” and “quiet luxury” eras, dainty necklaces are everywhere. I love dainty and feminine necklaces that add a little charm and interest. Minimal necklaces also make great layering pieces.

Pro-tip: A pearl necklace is always good to have in your jewelry box. It’s perfect for more conservative offices or when you want to add a feminine touch.

Earrings

Last, but certainly not least. Is your outfit even complete if you aren’t wearing earrings? Earrings are THE finishing touch to your look. Whether you decide to go bold or minimal, it never hurts to add that final touch. I especially like wearing earrings when my hair is pulled back—they add a little something to an otherwise demure look. I’m a gold girl, so I have a few different styles of gold earrings ranging from delicate to chunky.

If you want to venture past metals, pearls, gemstone studs, and acrylic earrings are great options. Pearls are sleek and feminine, while gemstone and acrylic earrings can give you range if you want to go a little bolder. I recently discovered that the aforementioned Marshall’s, TJMaxx, etc. have great jewelry sections where you can find inexpensive gold and silver pieces.
