Five Things to Make Your International Travel Flight Better – On an Economy Budget

These are my five must haves on an international flight! After a 15 hour journey to Europe these items are a must to keep you going and making you feel like you’re in first class!

Hello Loves! We made it through another week and currently I’m in another country! O_O If you’ve been checking in on us on Instagram, I’ve been showing you all bits and pieces of where we’re headed this Spring and at this current point, I’m probably at my stopover before heading to our first destination. Last year, my BF and I headed to Puerto Rico (Read Parts One & Two here) and this year, we’re headed further away with our passports in tow. For this 7.5 hour red-eye flight, we’re flying coach/economy (like most normal people), and while we can’t enjoy the true luxuries of Business or First class, we can enjoy some of life’s smaller pleasures! So if you’re like me and have champagne taste but on a beer budget, check out this list of Five Things to Make Your International Flight Better.

When I’m at home, I really like to give my face a good clean prior to hitting the sheets which requires about 15 different steps and products which TSA doesn’t make possible. So one of my go-to’s when I’m pressed for time and space is face wipes! In this case, I’ve recently been using the Burt’s Bees ($6.29) brand with White Tea extract. They’re perfect before bed as the smell is soothing and super calming to help you get comfortable as you sleep sitting up.

After I clean off my face, I love following up with my favorite moisturizer from Clinique. The Dramatically Different ($27)makes my skin feel so moisturized and hydrated, it’s the perfect follow up to a clean face. Plus, you’ll need to soak it up because the plane can get pretty dry and do awful things to your skin. If you have one of the larger versions, try transferring it to a smaller (air tight) container so TSA doesn’t make you ditch it and rush to the nearest Duty Free kiosk to re-fill.

Instead of BYOB, we’re BYOT-eaing it! (See what I did there!) *dork alert* I absolutely L-O-V-E tea. I probably go through 3-4 cups a day of various flavors ($4.99) and I love mixing it up. To treat yourself, pack some of your favorite options to make you feel at home as opposed to getting a flavor from the airline that doesn’t do it for you.

I’m not sure about you, but I don’t get to read as much as I would like when I’m home. Between working, blogging, and trying to get a little bit of sleep, I just don’t make the time to do it. Thus, the airplane is perfect for catching up on books you haven’t had the time for. This trip, I’m planning on honing in on my inner Shonda and her book, Year of Yes. The airplane is the perfect time to gain some inner peace and recalibrate a bit with a few hours of down time.

Lastly, now that you’ve made it through your flight and you’re landing in 45 minutes, time to break out the face mask! Now don’t bring anything messy or anything in a tube. I love the sheets like these ($2.49) that are easy to pack and even easier to clean up. There are a bunch of options from calming to refreshing and even rejuvenating to help you wake up from your well rested evening in air.

These are just a few of my must haves in-flight. Of course I’m bringing the usual culprits like my iPad, Spotify & Netflix (don’t forget to download your music & movies) and this new beauty from my BF for Valentine’s Day. But, these small additions can up the ante a bit and treat you to some first class service!
