How to Style-ASOS Vest and Pencil Skirt

We love finding pieces that put a modern spin on classic work pieces. This ASOS vest is a play on the classic plaid work vest. See how I style it for the perfect smart casual look.

Hello Lovelies!

We’re all about the look today and I’m featuring one of my favorite pieces. I spotted this vest on the ASOS site a while ago while casually browsing. One of my methods to avoid impulse shopping is to add pieces I like to my favorites and come back to them once I’ve taken care of all my adult responsibilities. This vest hung out in my favorites for almost a month, and when I went back for it, it was on sale! Talk about a pleasant surprise!

You know we stan versatile pieces, and this vest is just that! I’ve worn it with jeans, slacks, and skirts (as you see in today’s post). The neutral black and white pattern means I can wear it with just about any color, which I love.

Two of my favorite features of this vest are the length and the O-ring belt across the waist. The belt reminds me of mod style clothing from the 60s and the length of the vest is part of what makes it so sophisticated. The belt and length combo also help to give me the illusion of a nice waistline. I have no hips y’all, like ZERO hips! I’ve mastered the art of wearing clothes that enhance my figure. I love anything that wraps or that belts across the waist that plays on my illusion of hips.

I elevated what would have otherwise been a basic office look-a turtleneck and pencil skirt- with a statement piece that looks like it was perfectly tailored to fit me. The look is complete with my black work tote, black pumps, necklace and micro-fishnets.

I hope you all enjoyed this look! This vest has become a staple in my winter wardrobe and I’m sure I’ll find ways to wear it year round. What’s one piece you’ve been wearing all season long? Comment and let me know!

Until next time,

Gl
