How to Style the Utility Trend

I love a good fashion trend as much as the next gal so I’m always looking for ways to bring runway styles to the office. The utility look has been on my list for a while with its large functional pockets and soft green color. See how I styled a classic vest with a favorite pant of mine to match!

Every year I look forward to seeing the trends on the runway. I love seeing the models and of course, the creative styles make their way down the aisle. However, while I would love to wear a caged blazer to work, I don’t really think that’s within the office dress code.

So many times I see great trends that just aren’t transferable for the everyday gal. But, this year I’ve found one that IS office approved and it’s even been a closet staple of mine for a while. #trendsetter

The “utility” trend has been spotted both on and off the runway and now it’s on the blog! I’m rocking an old classic from Banana Republic that my Mom picked out YEARS ago. With a tailored look, it cinches in the waist in the perfect spot. If you snag a similar piece, don’t be afraid to take it to a tailor to get the perfect fit.

Paired with my favorite Ann Taylor pant, for all seasons, the green on green adds even more into the trend. A monochromatic look is a great way to polish off a look. No matter color you’re wearing, keeping it consistent can really pull the look together. If you’re feeling fancy, feel free though to break it up with a bit of a pattern.

For me, I went with a classic leopard heel, a closet staple. Depending on your office space, leopard may or may not be a go. In most cases though, you should be able to get away with a leopard heel. Stick with just a little if you’re still testing the waters.

Are you ready to test out this trend in your office?
