Pastel Color Combo-Spring Office Chic

Spring always brings in many new trends. One trend that we always associate with springtime is pastel colors. Here’s how to bring pastel colors together for a savvy office look.

Hello Lovelies!

I hope you all have enjoyed the first official week of spring! Here in Chicago we had typical Chicago weather, a little bit of everything under the sun. More recently, it’s been a little gloomy so to keep my spirits up I like to dress in light, bright colors. When I hear spring I instantly think pastels; they’re the ongoing spring trend! Today I’ll show you how to pull together a full look with pastels that work well with each other.

First off, I’d like to address the elephant in the room: my sweater is flipped up at the bottom throughout this shoot and *SOMEBODY* didn’t make me aware. Okay, now that that’s out of the way let’s get to it lol! This look is a spin on a classic look, which is something we like to do often. A nice, skinny leg pant with a sweater/ collared shirt combo is not new but you can absolutely make it your own! Creating this look with pastel colors is my personal spin. If you’re not big on bright colors, pastels are a smooth transition out of your comfort zone. They’re soft, and easy on the eye so you don’t feel uncomfortably loud.

For this look I pulled together pieces that have gotten some wear before (some more than others) and created a whole new spring look! My skinny leg pants are an H & M find from last spring and definitely a pair I regret not getting in every color =(. They’re fitted but they are sooooo comfortable! The fabric blend is a perfect mix of sturdy, quality fabric with some stretch. I also like that they zip and button on the side instead of the front for a better fit. I find that some pants with a traditional front zipper fit a little big on me. I’m a big fan of blush tones because I like how they complement my darker complexion.

This sweater I’ve had for a while and it’s actually a crop sweater that I’ve re-purposed. Yes, that’s right, I pulled one of Sydney’s tricks and made a crop sweater work appropriate. I got it from Forever 21 and as I’ve cleaned out my closet over the years I’ve not been able to let it go. I like to layer it with a collared shirt for soft layers and to add an air of sophistication. I also added a statement necklace so the neckline doesn’t look bare. I’m more inclined to add necklaces to solid colored tops as a focal point; printed and textured tops already have visual appeal so subtle jewelry works better in most cases.

Since my top and pants are bringing the color, I went nude for my shoes. I really love these shoes, especially for spring and summer because they easily pull together all my looks. They’r Michael Antonio and I got them from AKIRA for about $25. Such a great deal and a comfortable shoe. The subtle slit detail at the bottom of my pants gives me Sandy from Grease vibes and I love it! Of course I’m sporting my favorite spring work bag as well.

Bringing pastel colors together is much easier than bringing together true colors because they’re all on the same page as far as shade and tone. You could absolutely build this look with pastel blues, greens, and yellows and it would work just as well. The 3/4 length sleeve on my sweater is perfect for Chicago weather that may be cool and rainy in the morning then bright and sunny by afternoon. This look is so easy to put together and you can trade out different pieces to match your personal style. Mix it up and see what combos you come up with!

Until next time!
