Watercolor Print Dress-Quick Summer Office Look

Quick and well put together looks may seem nearly impossible to achieve. We’ll show just how easy it is to put together a chic summer work look with a watercolor print dress and a few nice accessories.

Hello Lovelies!

We’re on the opposite side of Memorial Day and in Chicago that means summer has officially started! Since the sun is out and beaming I like for my wardrobe to reflect the weather with beautiful bright colors. Today’s look features a watercolor print dress that is a must have for spring and summer days at the office.

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of quick looks that are easy to put together. One of the reason I love dresses so much is because they’re about 85% of your look on their own. No need to worry about coordinating prints and patterns or wondering if this blouse looks right with these pants. Dresses are no muss no fuss, which is why we’ve named them one of our must have pieces for your work wardrobe.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever inadvertently turned off your morning alarm instead of snoozing it and woke up with 30 minutes or less to get dressed and out the door *raises both hands*.  Having a sizable range of dresses in your work wardrobe is great for those days because you can grab a dress off the hanger, pick up a few snazzy accessories and go! Super easy, and you don’t wind up going into work looking like you had to race the clock to make it there on time.

Printed dresses are important because you pull in multiple colors and you can get around the monotony of solid colored dresses. Watercolor print is huge for spring and summer so when I saw this dress at Ross (yes, another Ross buy!) I knew it would be a hit! I paid about $15 for this dress and it was worth every penny. It’s a skater style dress with a flattering waistline so I don’t lose my shape but it’s still modest enough for work. The color combo is bright enough for summer but the colors aren’t loud, so it won’t be too harsh on the eyes at work or an event.

I’m really loving the watercolor floral print because there’s an air of uniqueness to the dress. I love a good floral pattern but they can get standard at times. The watercolor print almost looks like someone hand painted the design on my dress and doesn’t look as uniform.

If your office has a looser dress code about arms and shoulders being out you can wear this dress as is like I did. If you’re more on the conservative side you can pair a sleeveless dress with a cardigan, blazer or shrug over it or you can wear an Oxford style button down shirt underneath. Either way, don’t shy away from sleeveless dresses if you feel it’ll bare too much skin for work. You can always layer up to suit your work environment.

My chosen accessories for this look are my magenta block heels from ShoeDazzle and a yellow statement necklace. I’ve really been into block heels recently. They’re currently on trend and they’re so comfortable you can stand to wear them all day without a problem!

I hope you all enjoy this look and get inspired to venture into the world of print, watercolor print specifically, for the summer season. I highly recommend you rack up on dresses of different styles and colors of dresses for those days when you’re short on time but still need to look sharp. They will become your savior!
