4 Classic Coats for the Office
As Chicagoans, we’re no stranger to looking great while staying warm. High-winds, rain, snow, sleet YOU NAME IT! Here are some of my favorite stand-out coats to polish off your wardrobe.
I’m a huge believer that a coat can really top-off a look. Growing up I always found myself gravitating to coats in different colors, patterns, and shapes to fit the event. Whether that’s a classic everyday coat that never goes out of style, or a more casual option for weekend events, these coats are sure to meet your needs for both fashion and function.
Classic Camel Coats
This one is a no-brainer. Neutrals still (and always will) have their moment so you can’t go wrong with investing in a long-lined camel coat. I can’t tell you how many times I reach for this coat in my closet for work AND on the weekends. You can dress it up or down which justifies spending a little more on a piece to last you a life-time.
Animal Print Coats
I know we’re all loving neutrals and simple pieces but we all need a little uniqueness sometimes. For me, that includes a stand-out animal print coat. This one was a surprising steal for $50 from a JustFab sale but it’s still one of my favorites. The muted colors gives it a more simplistic look but if you’re more of a maximalist, there are plenty options that are more vibrant and stand out from the crowd.
Pop of Color Coats
This should go without saying but I love a bright coat to brighten up a dim winter (or spring) day. Bonus points when the coat matches the outfits but when the weather warms up, I love pairing this coat with other pink items in my closet for a full look or a muted monochromatic look and make it the stand-out piece. Either way, pick your favorite color and snag one that fits your style. Some favorite brands for this include J.Crew and Ann Taylor which has staple coats in an array of shades.
Cropped and Boxy Coats
As you know, we’re all about versatility and I couldn’t complete this list without a trendy option for folks looking to spice up their wardrobe. For more casual and especially weekend days, I love wearing this bomber/cropped style coat. A find from Nordstrom Rack, I love the rich olive color and the cut when the weathers a bit more mild. It’s definitely giving ‘cool girl’ and I’m here for it off-hours.
