How to Style a Pleated Skirt for Fall

Fall is right around the corner so that means it’s time to break out your layers and get ready for the rich colors, pumpkins, and in this case, a go-to work uniform that never fails featuring a pleated skirt.

I’m kind of disappointed that I didn’t hold out for the Fall posts until September but with 2 days left, hey what can I say. We’re huge fans of making our wardrobe work for us and this goes for every single season and this pleated skirt does the job!

Whether it’s 80 degrees out or 48 degrees out, your wardrobe should be able to transition from season to season flawlessly. For me, that means a lot of pleated skirts since it’s cool in the morning and hot during the day. This transitional piece looks great with so many items in your closet so snag one early and put your wardrobe to work!

In this case, I’m sporting my a pleated skirt from Vince which is one of my favorite brands. It’s on the more costly side but it was a gift and it’s made it through 3 seasons already. It’s not going anywhere!

I love it most for the asymmetrical side detail and the gorgeous color. Fall is the perfect time to break out those rich hues like mauve, camel, and rust. I’m basically blending into the flowers at this point.

You can wear this skirt in all offices and make it work. Pair it with a black blazer, a crisp white blouse and a clean pump for corporate spaces. Or if you’re like my office, sport it with a cozy fitted sweater for more business casual organizations. You could even get away with sneakers if you’re at a start up. I’ve worn it so many ways thus far I’m sure I’m getting my money’s worth.

In the summer, I like to style it with a sleek pump or a strappy sandal. In the Fall, it wouldn’t be right with anything but a cute pair of booties or tall boots. The skirt and boot combo is perfect especially if the weather where you live changes a lot. Rain, snow, sleet etc., us Chicagoans have to be prepared for anything and a stylish yet functional boot normally does the job.

Who’s ready to take fall head on in your pleated skirt? I’ll admit, I’ve been planning some other fall outfits to share that I think you’re going to LOVE!
